Jardine Matheson today announces the appointment of Kevin O’Brien as CEO of Jardine Engineering & Infrastructure (JEI). Kevin is currently CEO of Gammon Construction – a Jardines portfolio company. In light of Kevin’s appointment, together with Balfour Beatty we have appointed Stanley Chen, Gammon’s Executive Director, Building, as Acting CEO of Gammon.
As Jardines builds out the leadership team for JEI, we also announce that David Muir will be appointed CFO for JEI, and that Justin Wang will join JEI as Chief Corporate Development Officer. David Muir is currently Head of Finance for Jardine Matheson, while Justin Wang joins JEI from Anchor Equity Partners where he is a Managing Director.
All appointments are effective 1 October.
At the Jardine Matheson Investor Day in June, we outlined our intention to establish JEI as a new business, bringing together Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC), Jardine Schindler, Gammon Construction and Hactl into a new portfolio company. JEI will build on this existing portfolio to create a regional, high value-added engineering and infrastructure platform. Growth will be driven through organic expansion of existing businesses, targeted M&A in key growth areas, and by unlocking synergies across our businesses. In due course, JEI will have its own board and will build a lean senior management team to execute its growth strategy.
“Kevin has a deep-rooted knowledge of customers and supply chains across building, engineering and infrastructure businesses in Asia Pacific. He is well recognised for his leadership and has a proven track record of driving transformation and business improvement programmes, as well as for pioneering sustainability in challenging industries. I have every confidence in Kevin’s ability to lead JEI as we build this business and implement its ambitious organic and inorganic growth strategy. David and Justin likewise bring significant expertise to support Kevin in driving this agenda forward,” said Lincoln Pan, CEO of Jardine Matheson.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to grow JEI. Our portfolio of businesses are leaders in their fields, rooted in Hong Kong and with excellent long-term relationships. We see favourable conditions across Asia for growth in engineering and infrastructure, driven by trends like AI and supporting infrastructure; demand for energy and sustainable solutions; and rising income levels and accelerating industrialisation in Southeast Asia,” said Kevin O’Brien.
