The Refreshed Walk Up Jardine House 2021 Raised over HK$2.78 Million to Support Promotion of Mental Health

Embedding sustainability

The refreshed and innovative Walk Up Jardine House 2021 came to a successful close with the tremendous support from all participating companies and organisations – 47 corporates, 17 NGOs and three schools.

Spanned from late August to early October, the event brought the ‘Walk Up Jardine House’ experience to workplace by setting up Boost Up Stations with a step machine and ipad loaded with event graphics and mental health information.  Nearly 2,000 participants were involved and encouraged to stay active even under the pandemic.  A total of 50 million steps, equivalent to 53,473 Jardine Houses, were accumulated in the Corporate and Community Challenge.

With the generous support from all corporate sponsors, the event raised over HK$2.78 million for MINDSET, Jardines’ registered charity to raise awareness around mental health, challenge the stigma through the education and empowerment of individuals and provide direct assistance to people with mental ill-health.

Officiated by John Witt, Group Managing Director of Jardine Matheson, an Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 20 October to celebrate for the winners. Yvette Kong, Mind HK Board Member and former Olympic swimmer were also invited to share her insight in mental health on this occasion.

About MINDSET

MINDSET is a registered charity in Hong Kong founded by the Jardine Matheson Group in 2002, focused on making a positive and sustainable difference in mental health – a vitally important yet under-resourced area of global concern.

With operations in Hong Kong and Singapore, we collaborate with a number of mental health organisations and NGOs, advocacy groups and corporate partners, with an aim to raise awareness and change the perception and attitude around mental health. Our mission is to challenge stigma through the education and empowerment of individuals to enable them to share with, and support, one another. We also provide direct assistance to people with mental ill-health.
