JEC and ALBA unveil strategic partnership for sustainable future of Asia

Evolving our portfolio

The Jardine Engineering Corporation Limited (JEC), a premier engineering expert and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Jardine Matheson Group, and the ALBA Group Asia (ALBA), one of the leading recycling and environmental services providers in Asia, are proud to announce a strategic investment by JEC in ALBA Green Gas Holding Limited (AGG).

JEC’s investment marks a transformative step in expanding its footprint in the environmental engineering sector, and enhancing our capability in partnering with a leading waste-to-energy operator. It will also accelerate AGG’s ability to acquire and develop organic waste projects in China and across Asia.

Sustainability is embedded in JEC’s core values and serves as a driving force behind its business strategy. JEC continues to deliver impactful solutions across Asia, with this commitment reflected in tangible initiatives such as food waste-to-energy solutions, design and build of green infrastructures, and digital innovations. These efforts are aimed at advancing smart city development and fostering sustainable communities beyond Hong Kong.

Mr. Noky Wong, Chief Executive of JEC, expressed, “This is an exciting strategic investment for JEC, which reflects our strong commitment to sustainability and our long-term ambition to grow JEC’s presence in the waste-to-energy sector. By combining JEC’s engineering know-how with ALBA’s proven operational expertise, we are confident that our mutually aligned vision will accelerate AGG’s growth journey.”

“With the vision of working for a world without waste, ALBA is firmly committed to avoiding pollution and reducing carbon footprint by Green Gas Technology.” says Mr. Mingxi Zhao, CEO of ALBA Group Asia, “We are excited to enter the partnership with JEC. With their strengths in capital resources and extensive network in the Asia Pacific region, AGG will accelerate the expansion of organic waste management to drive a sustainable future for Asia.”

Due to rapid economic development, urbanization and a large population, a vast market for organic waste management is emerging in Asia. “We have integrated European best practices with localized solutions for the state-of-the-art organic waste management centers in China.” says Mr. Chunlong Cheng, CEO of the joint venture – AGG, “The partnership strengthens our confidence in meeting the emerging demands and setting new standards for organic waste management in Asia. Our initiative encompasses not only the rapid development of new projects but also the expansion of our engagement along the value chain across China and Southeast Asia.”
