Operational excellence

One of the main objectives of our Group HR strategy is to create better ways to work with our people. To deliver this, we are transitioning to new digital platforms to give employees direct access to HR-related information and processes. These online platforms will also provide our managers and HR teams with data and analytics about our people and our organisation that will help us make more informed decisions.

One solution that meets our objectives is the Workday platform that was recently rolled out to more than 400 Jardines Group Head Office colleagues. “Workday is a next-generation digital HR management system that modernises and simplifies the management of employee information and HR processes,” said John Nolan, Group HR Director.
“It is very user-friendly and can be accessed from any device. It’s the first of many Group-wide HR digital solutions to integrate our systems and benefits platforms,” John added.

Benefits
One of the main benefits of Workday is that it gives employees access and control of their own personal data. It also allows each person to make sure their information is up to date.
As an online HR system that saves employee information and data via the Cloud, Workday makes data available from all devices – so there is no need to print out organisation charts and reports. It can also aggregate and analyse data to provide predictive forecasting and customised analytics reports.
For colleagues and HR managers, it offers greater access and control of important information pulled from a single source of verified data. Managers using Workday will have access to a wider view of the organisation and the broader talent pool, which will help improve their talent management and planning.
John added, “The roll-out of Workday is also a great example of collaboration and expertise sharing across the Group because Workday was initially trialled and launched by Jardine Cycle & Carriage a few years ago. It’s also a good example of modern transformation in action and how we will seek to continuously improve functions and jobs in the future. Transformation is not a one-off process – it is ongoing and ever evolving.”
Workday will help reduce costs and increase efficiencies because it will integrate seamlessly with other new platforms that manage benefits, and support learning and communications, that will be launched later this year.
