Astra Group Supports Exports to Global Markets

In order to support non-oil and gas exports and boost national economic growth, the Astra Group participated in the Export Release from Indonesia to the Global Market event led by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo virtually from the State Palace today (4/12).

The release of exports simultaneously is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia and the business sector which is also a concrete step to help non-oil and gas exports during the pandemic, increase SME exports, maintain loyal buyers, increase investment and grow the national economy next year.

Astra Group companies participating in the Export Release event are PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (AOP), PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), and PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI). In this activity, AOP exported automotive components for the replacement market and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) segment, ADM exported Gran Max vehicles, while IAMI exported its commercial vehicles, namely Isuzu Traga, which inaugurated its first export to the Philippines. has been implemented in December last year.

"One of the keys to improving the national economy is by increasing exports, because it can increase foreign exchange and reduce the country's current account deficit. We must not give up and must be more observant about the opportunities that are still wide open. There are still many huge export potentials, both in terms of product diversity, volume and quality. The key is to be proactive and not passive, ”said President Joko Widodo in his speech.

"Hopefully the Astra Group's participation in this export activity can support the government's program, namely non-oil and gas exports, as well as help boost national economic growth. We believe we can all get through this pandemic condition if we support each other, "said Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro.

Also attending the event were the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Agus Suparmanto and echelon I officials of the Ministry of Trade, as well as the Head of the Industry and Trade Service in their respective regions.

Four-wheeled exports of the Astra Group Reach 61% of the Total National Exports.
The Astra Group has supported the non-oil and gas export program, especially for automotive products and components. The four and two-wheeled business of the Astra Group, with a production capacity of more than 700,000 units per year and more than 5 million units per year, respectively, is a superior production strategy to serve the needs of the domestic and export markets.

AOP as a manufacturer and distributor of motorized vehicle components, currently has exported around 74 types of components consisting of batteries, tires, electrical components, engine transmissions, and other components to 50 export destination countries.

Based on data published by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), from January to October 2020, ADM exported 67,740 CBU four-wheeled vehicles to 75 export destination countries.

The export volume of ADM reached 37% of the total national exports of four-wheeled vehicles which reached 180,903 units.

The Astra Group, through its factory in Toyota, has also exported 42,131 CBU four-wheeled vehicles from January to October 2020, or 23% of the total national exports of four-wheeled vehicles.

Nationally, the total exports of Astra Group manufacturers, namely Daihatsu and Toyota, reached 109,871 units or 61% of the total national CBU four-wheeled vehicle exports.

In less than a year, IAMI exported 2,689 units of Isuzu Traga or valued at US $ 28 million from January to October 2020.

In the motorcycle market, the Astra Group also exported 221,556 units of CBU Honda motorcycles from January to October 2020, or 41 percent of the total national motorcycle exports which reached 542,016 units.

Export Release from 14 Cities
Today's export release was carried out simultaneously by around 133 companies from various sectors from 14 cities in Indonesia, such as Lhokseumawe, Medan, Pekanbaru, Bandar Lampung, Jabodetabek, Bandung, Semarang-Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Samarinda, Makassar and Sorong simultaneously and hybrid.

The exported products range from automotive and components, agricultural products, food and beverage, defense equipment to herbal medicine.

All of the Astra Group's export activities are in line with Astra's aspiration to prosper with the nation.
