Step2Wellness, promoting an active body and mind across Jardines

Enhancing leadership

On 15 May 2022, Jardines crossed the finish line of its three-week Step2Wellness event. The second instalment1 of the physical and mental wellness challenge was launched across the Group to encourage an active lifestyle – especially during a period where most of our locations were still facing the effects and challenges of the pandemic.

In total, almost 1,400 colleagues across 17 countries participated in this exciting Group-wide event. A staggering 148,511,901 steps were accumulated, which is equivalent to travelling the Earth’s diameter nearly nine times. These impressive statistics were recorded on Aktivo, a health and wellbeing app which tracked the progress of employee’s steps, and provided mental health tips at the same time.

According to studies, physical activities such as taking regular walks can help improve mental health by promoting better sleep and happier moods, as well as managing stress, anxiety, or intrusive racing thoughts. Being physically active gives the brain something to focus on and can be a positive coping strategy for difficult times2.

At Jardines, mental health is a key focus area of the Group in promoting the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of our people, customers, partners, and communities. As such, the annual Step2Wellness initiative helps promote physical health and mental wellbeing through a fun and collaborative way across the Group’s employees.
