By September, more than 1,000 Group employees will be close to completing the Mind Gym management training programme that started in July.

Uniting 50 cohorts from 15 Group business units, Mind Gym helps executives enhance their skills in managing up, managing their direct reports and improving their personal effectiveness through instructor-led, face-to-face and virtual learning sessions.
Mind Gym is running as a pilot programme this year, and is expected to expand to involve more employees in 2020 and beyond. It is one of several initiatives launched under a newly introduced Group Learning strategy to provide access to world-class learning opportunities for everyone across the Group.

“The new Group-wide learning strategy reaffirms our strong commitment to both strengthening the existing capabilities of our people and offering them exciting opportunities to develop new capabilities for the future,” said Jardine Matheson Group Human Resources (HR) Director John Nolan.

“Many of the new programmes teach critical, practical skills in functional areas such as digital and innovation. They also have a business-relevant focus and our Digital and Innovation Academy, which Mind Gym involves a mix of in-person and online group learning sessions. launches in October, offers programmes developed in conjunction with our businesses to help the Group move faster, be more flexible, and enhance customer engagement.”
An HR Academy, with similar goals – to provide relevant and future-focused skills for HR colleagues in the region – will also be rolled out soon. Other programmes in the pipeline include an initiative developed with leading business school INSEAD that aims to help junior and mid-level high-potential employees grow and transition to senior roles. These programmes, as well as the already established Advance Leadership Programme (with London Business School) also strongly support the Jardines strategic focus in key areas such as growth and transformation, living our corporate purpose, and strengthening our work culture.
An On-Demand Learning platform will also launch soon to help ‘time-challenged’ colleagues learn anytime, anywhere, with content personalised to their role. More continued learning initiatives to support Group businesses, and individuals, will be introduced in the months ahead to maintain the momentum of improvement.
