The Jardine Matheson Group has always been committed to making a positive contribution to the communities and regions in which it operates, whether in Asia or other parts of the world.

In Hong Kong and mainland China, Group companies focus their philanthropic activities on the area of mental health through MINDSET, a locally registered charitable organization established since 2002 to spearhead the initiative.  The Group also runs an educational trust, the Jardine Foundation, and awards scholarships annually to students who have the potential to become outstanding citizens with a high commitment to the community, and enable them to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the United Kingdom. In Singapore, Group companies including Jardine Cycle & Carriage and Dairy Farm support the local community through a range of community activities and donation drives, and promote harmony in society.

In Indonesia, Astra demonstrates its care for the community by supporting the areas of education, environment and poverty eradication. Through Astra’s foundations, the company offers some 5,000 scholarships annually to students from elementary to postgraduate schools, as well as to underprivileged children. Astra also provides financial loans and capital for local villagers to set up small businesses to maintain self-subsistence.
