Recruitment Scams

Please be aware of fraudulent communications purporting to be made on behalf of companies within the Jardine Matheson Group

We have been made aware of recent incidents involving persons falsely claiming to recruit on behalf of the Jardine Matheson Group. These persons wrongly claim to either work for or to be affiliated with Jardine Matheson, and notify individuals of alleged employment opportunities with Jardine Matheson and solicit the transfer of significant sums of money. In some instances, the job applicants are told that they may work from home for an initial period of several months.

These communications are fraudulent. They are not sent from, or authorised by, Jardine Matheson, its affiliates or its service providers.

Jardine Matheson does not at any time (nor do any of the organisations that recruit or act on our behalf) ask for money or payments from any job applicants. All individuals who apply for employment with Jardine Matheson, whether directly or indirectly, must go through a formal Jardine Matheson recruitment process.

The following are easy ways to spot some of these fraudulent communications: (i) they are sent from non-Jardine Matheson e-mail addresses (e.g. yahoo.com address or gmail.com address); (ii) they contain grammatical errors; and/or (iii) you are requested to pay a sum of money or provide your bank account or credit card details.

We recommend that you do not respond to unsolicited communications and/or recruitment offers. Do not provide your personal data or financial details and do not transfer or authorise any monetary payments to anyone you do not know.

If you are unsure as to whether or not an unsolicited communication is fraudulent or authorised by Jardine Matheson, please contact us directly to verify the communication before taking any further action.

If you receive any fraudulent communications, then we recommend that you contact the police and provide them with any information you have available regarding the communication and the sender.
