The 'Health in Mind' programme is focused on promoting awareness and a positive attitude towards mental illness among young people and equipping them with the right knowledge on how to maintain good mental health.
With Jardine Ambassadors leading the efforts and acting as role models and mentors to students, the programme aims to empower secondary students as advocates to promote mental health to fellow students, their families, and the public at large through interactive activities and experiential personal development training.
Since its foundation in 2002 'Health in Mind' has achieved significant success thanks to the guidance from the mental healthcare professionals from The Hospital Authority, Jardine Ambassadors from MINDSET, and teachers from the participating schools.
In 2017/18 alone, the programme recruited more than 400 student advocates from 27 secondary schools in Hong Kong.
One of the major events of the 'Health in Mind' programme is the City Orienteering. Guided by Jardine Ambassadors, student advocates join those recovering / living with mental health issues from NGOs in a one-day event promoting social inclusion and the de-stigmatisation of mental illness. The event provides those recovering from mental health issues an opportunity to reintegrate into the community and to practice their planning, time management, budget allocation and decision making skills while enhancing the students' understanding of those suffering.
