Dairy Farm Jumps for Health and Charity
Dairy Farm organized the 2008 JUMP Festival for health and charity in November 2008. Some 3,000 people at Shatin Racecourse in Hong Kong participated including corporate representatives, students and their families and the general public.

The 2008 JUMP Festival was the first-of-its-kind gargantuan promotion by a retail chain in Hong Kong, aiming to raise money for charity and to get Hong Kong fit and healthy by jumping.

Over 1,300 Dairy Farm stores and a number of its suppliers came together to promote the event which raised funds for the People's Food Bank, MINDSET and the Business-School Partnership Programme of the Education Bureau. A total of HK$1.4 million was raised, among which HK$300,000 is granted to MINDSET.

To continue the momentum of the 2008 JUMP Festival, the general public were also subsequently invited to make donation at all 7-Eleven, IKEA, Mannings and Wellcome outlets to support The People's Food Bank. Every HK$100 raised helps to provide food for the needy for a week. The total donation collected by the outlets amounted to HK$69,000.

MINDSET Job Training Programme Impresses Australian Conference
Nancy Chan, General Manager of Group Human Resource (HR Services), Jardine Matheson Limited, represented MINDSET to speak at the 2008 NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Awards in Sydney organized by Australia's Consumer Activity Network (Mental Health) Inc ('CAN') at New South Wales Parliament House on 18th September 2008.

CAN is an organization where people living with mental illness (referred to by the mental health sector as 'consumers') help their peers reintegrate into society. The Annual NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Awards recognizes the contributions mental health consumers made within the Australian community.

At the ceremony, Ms Chan explained why the Jardine Matheson Group chose to focus on the mental health sector and shared the Group's experiences on how the private sector can play a role in supporting mental health.

In particular, she elaborated at length about the training and job placement opportunities offered within the Group for the ex-mentally ill, and the successes and challenges encountered in implementing the programme.

"By arranging workshops for frontline managers from various business units within the group, we aim to enhance their understanding of how the ex-mentally ill can contribute in a workplace, so that we can find more appropriate training opportunities," said Ms Chan.

She shared with the audience a number of successful cases, including one in her department who became a permanent staff after a two-year part-time stint.

"Our experience is that it is necessary to be patient with the ex-mentally ill. Giving them a lot of encouragement and guidance has seen proven successes," said Ms Chan.

She concluded, "One important thing I'd learnt from my visit is that the people I met at the award ceremony were very open that they were consumers themselves, and these are professionals in responsible positions in the community.

"I hope that by advocating mental health awareness and de-stigmatization through our MINDSET initiatives, we can see in the community an open and receptive attitude towards the mentally-ill."

NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Awards頒獎典禮,並擔任演講嘉賓。

NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Awards正是要表揚精神康復人士對澳洲社群的貢獻。
