Entertaining CENTRAL Rat Race Raises Funds for MINDSET
In the third annual CENTRAL Rat Race 2008, Hongkong Land raise HK$2.38 million for MINDSET with some 46 teams and 400 executives from Hong Kong's leading companies overcoming the Rat Race-themed obstacles of a challenging course to race around the Central Business District.
Along the 2.5 kilometre route, participants overcame obstacles such as 'Job Maze' and 'Corporate Ladder', as well as new elements like 'Shoe Shining', which required them to buff a giant shoe.
Every team participating in the Rat Race Cup made a donation of HK$50,000. A team from Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) won the Cup. The Big Rat Cup for senior executives went to Alex Newbigging, also of JEC. Craig Dally of Linklaters topped the Iron Rat Race for individual participants. Amongst the rest, Gammon raised the most funds and won the 'Fat Rat Award'.
Beneficiaries of MINDSET formed cheering teams to cheer the runners at each relay changing point. Dressed up in the 'Rats' theme, the cheering teams were made up from service users and staff from Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service, Caritas Jockey Club Lai King Rehabilitation Centre, Castle Peak Hospital's MINDSET Club, Fu Hong Society, Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong. The Best Dressed NGO Cheering Team Award went to Fu Hong Society.
「鼠戰中環」為「思健」籌款
透過第三屆「鼠戰中環」活動，置地為「思健」籌得善款港幣二百三十八萬元，其間四十六隊約四百名來自香港頂尖企業的參賽者雲集中區，克服障礙重重的「鼠戰」賽道，場面十分熱鬧。
賽道長達二點五公里，參賽者需拔足狂奔，穿越中環的著名商廈群，克服多個障礙賽段，如「衝出迷『工』 尋覓新方向」及「衝上雲霄 力爭再上游」，以及要求參賽者擦亮一隻大皮鞋的新增賽段「認清目標 擦出我天地」。
參加「鼠跑盃」的每支隊伍均須向「思健」捐款最少港幣五萬元。而今屆奪得「鼠跑盃」的隊伍來自怡和機器。在高級行政人員參加的「至尊鼠王盃」賽事中，怡和機器的艾力紐璧堅勇奪冠軍。年利達律師事務所的Craig Dally則於個人賽項目「鐵鼠爭霸戰」中摘冠。此外，金門則以最高籌款額榮獲「最強捐款隊伍獎」。
接受「思健」資助的機構紛紛組成啦啦隊，在各個賽段為選手打氣。這些啦啦隊包括浸會愛群社會服務處、明愛賽馬會荔景社會服務中心、青山醫院思健俱樂部、扶康會、香港心理衛生會、新生精神康復會及香港小童群益會的服務使用者及職員。他們均穿上以「鼠」為主題的服裝，打扮得別出心裁，而扶康會更奪得「最佳裝扮社福機構啦啦隊獎」。
